Arguably, the best manufactured Purple Martin House made from wood is by Andy Troyer. The compartments in the T-14 are 11" deep to protect the birds from Owls and other predators. This size also gives the Purple Martin plenty of room to raise a large clutch. The T-14 also has the option of crescent entrance holes to keep Starlings out.
A good aluminum Purple Martin House is made by Heritage Farms. Their model 7540 has one of the smartest designs I've ever seen. It incorporates the best features, including large compartments, integrated porches, and good ventilation. It's easy to add pods as your colony grows.
Finally, we offer Purple Martin Gourd Houses, because the Purple Martin's seem to favor gourd bird houses over all types of housing. If you're having trouble starting a new colony, add some Purple Martin gourds.
